STEP 1: Bottom Circumference

Measure the circumference of your limb 6cm up from the bottom. Continue to STEP 2: Find your size

Measuring for Alps Smart Seal prosthetic liner.

STEP 2: Find your size

Take your bottom measurement and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on the safe side. If the size you arrived at, after measuring seems too big or small, in some cases it helps to use the size of your current liner as a very rough guide. The size may be printed on the liner. Continue to STEP 3: Length

SIZE CIRCUMFERENCE (centimeters)
20 20-23 cm (*Size for Locking Version only)
24 24-25 cm (*Size for Locking Version only)
26 26-27 cm
28 28-31 cm
32 32-37 cm
35 35-37 cm (*Size for Cushion Version only)
38 38-43 cm

STEP 3: Length

Length is a matter of preference. You can trim this liner with a very sharp scissors. Start by applying your Alps Smart Seal Liner and mark on the liner where you want to trim. Remove your liner and trim at your mark.

When measuring your thigh, pay special attention to how tight you take your measurement. It's best to pull the ends of your tape measure somewhat tight and then release. Your goal is to find a middle ground of how much tension you should apply to your measuring tape. Too tight and too loose will both result in a poorly fitting prosthetic liner.

Alps Smart Seal Liner Description

The Alps Smart Seal Liner is sealing type liner offering improved suspension over standard cushion and locking prosthetic liners.  Formulated with Alps HD Gel, you will experience greater stability and control over standard gel type liners. This feature benefits those who play in sports or go to the gym weekly.

The hypobaric and non constricting nature of this liner, produces less pressure and stress on your residual limb, equating to added comfort. The silicone coated bands assist with rotational control. And below knee amputees can experience cushion suspension without using a prosthetic sleeve. The Alps Smart Seal Liner silicone bands stretch against the walls of your prosthesis, preventing your prosthetic liner from sliding.

If you replace your current liner please ensure your current liner is either 6mm or 3mm uniform thickness.

Read our Prosthetic Liner Guide for more information on prosthetic liners.

How-to Apply

Invert your Alps prosthetic liner so that the logo is on the inside. Place the end of your liner against the end of your limb. If using a pin lock liner, center the pin attachment on the bottom of your limb. Carefully roll your prosthetic liner onto your limb.

***Warning: Do not pull your liner onto your limb. Pulling the liner may stretch the skin and result in an uncomfortable fit and possible skin issues along the edge of your liner. Last, make sure that there are no wrinkles or air pockets between the liner and your limb. Air pockets cause excessive sweating.
